When I created this unique logo and branding suite for Traverse City's Old Town Playhouse's production of James Brock's adaptation of Aesop's Fables, I wanted to bring a sense of motion to the classic nature of these well-known fables. To fully represent the critical aspect of the show, I read through James Brock's script before I began my creative process.
Brock wrote this to be performed by young actors, and I wanted the logo to represent a balanced blend of playfulness and sophistication so that it appealed to both elementary and middle school children. I used Adobe Illustrator to build original vector graphics with the pen shape tools to create the finished product.
When creating this informative logo and branding suite for Traverse City's Old Town Playhouse's production of Jay Hopkins and John Hunter's stage play The Iliad, The Odyssey, and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less, I had to meet many requirements. The show's title, author's name, and publishing information were all required to be in the logo.
Working with this much text was a challenge and required careful consideration of typography principles, space, color theory, and hierarchy. To reflect the show's content, I chose to use traditional Greek colors and motifs throughout the design.
A mastermind is a group of intentional, driven individuals working together to reach their goals. I used this definition to help me create a playful yet powerful logo for the women's empowerment group Fireflies.

I wanted to use powerful visual imagery to bring to life the idea of individuals sharing their light and finding they are brighter when working together. To accomplish this, I studied the anatomy of live fireflies and then used the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator to create vector graphics portraying these inspiring little insects.

I am one of these strange mortals who actually enjoy Shakespeare, so being able to create an original logo and branding suite for Traverse City's Old Town Playhouse's production of Denni Don Hunting's adaption of A Midsummer Night's Dream was truly my dream come true.
When I think about traditional Shakespeare texts, my mind immediately goes to stacks of books, loose papers, and medieval illustrations. Drawing on that inspiration and knowing this adaptation is for kids and revolves around fools and fairies, I decided to create designs in a playful paper-cut style. The graphics are all made in Adobe Illustrator.
I created the color palette to be gender-neutral and convey the story of Midsummer Night's Dream.  It is muted to reflect medieval illustrations and currently relies on purples and yellows to showcase a summer's evening.
I dearly love vintage designs, and to create this logo, I studied countless postal stamps from the early nineteenth century. After this meticulous research, I used Adobe Illustrator to recreate common shape and floral motifs from certain vintage stamps.

I also let vintage designs inspire the color palette, using tones sampled from digitally scanned vintage paper, and I also chose fonts from font designers specializing in vintage-style typography.
